Why The Dragon Speaks?
Glenda, the founder, was diagnosed with autism at the age of 50 and has two sons who are also on the autism spectrum. As a result of facing challenges throughout her life without understanding the reasons behind them, she strongly believes in promoting inclusivity at all levels and advocates for the positive impact of inclusion on individuals and society as a whole. A period of significant illness led her to reevaluate her career as a teacher, ultimately leading to the creation of The Dragon Speaks.
The choice of the company name, “The Dragon Speaks,” holds personal significance for Glenda, who is of Welsh descent and has a fondness for all things Welsh. Her family’s shared interest in fantasy, particularly dragons, influenced the decision to incorporate this theme into the company name. Originally considering “Dragon Consultancy,” Glenda’s sons felt this was too conventional. They viewed Glenda as a symbol of strength and fierce advocacy for neurodiversity and individual rights, likening her to a dragon. Accordingly, the name “The Dragon Speaks” was selected to represent her role as a passionate speaker on neurodiversity matters.

Glenda Truscott
Glenda Truscott is the founder and passion behind The Dragon Speaks.
A firm believer in inclusivity at all levels, Glenda is a strong advocate of the power of inclusion to improve the overall well-being of both individuals and the wider society. She has a history of working with an extensive range of diverse groups to reduce the inequality gap and improve the experiences of marginalised sections of society.
A background in education has led Glenda to a variety of challenging and very diverse areas where deprivation, poverty and disengagement have been the norm. Having worked in local partnership projects, where government authorities, businesses, sports groups and education have collaborated to start community projects, she has gained a drive to work with and develop ambitious, confident, inclusive leadership teams in all areas of society.
Having earned a BEd (Hons) and MA(Ed) from the University of Southampton, Glenda is currently undertaking doctoral research at the University of Portsmouth, where she is focusing on neurodiversity and inclusion in both business and education.
Currently, Glenda writes and speaks about how businesses can support all their workforce especially those who have a difference or disability. She also goes into schools, FE and HE establishments to support staff in preparing their neurodiverse students to prepare for the world of work. Her approach is down-to-earth, inclusive, collaborative and supportive.
